THE CITY OF DARWIN AND THE DARWIN MIDNIGHT BASKETBALL COMMITTEE ARE WRAPPED TO open registrations for tournament 2 DARWIN commencing Saturday 16 April, 2016

Midnight Basketball is a youth social inclusion program using basketball as a youth engagement tool to engage up to 60 local at risk youth aged 12-18, during peak times where there is minimal support services available.

Friday and Saturday nights are the highest risk period of the week for teenagers, a time when most other services and activities are not available. Midnight Basketball is a fun yet disciplined program combining sport and education to fill this gap.

TOURNAMENT 2

Darwin Midnight Basketball Tournament 2 will be kicking off on Saturday 16 April from 7.00pm -11.30pm, and running for 8 weeks at Darwin Basketball Stadium. So far there has been overwhelming support for the program and we have seen strong community will and capacity across sectors to get this off the ground.

we need your help!

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to give up just one or more Saturday nights to assist with the following:

VOLUNTEER ROLES

  • Catering assistants
  • Score/bench officials
  • Workshop supervisors
  • Bus supervisors
  • Coaches/mentors
  • Scoreboard operators
  • Registration helpers (week 1 only)
  • Photographers
  • General Assistants

Professional ROLES

  • Tournament Night Manager
  • Youth Worker
  • Bus Drivers
  • Referee Assistant
  • Referees
  • Workshop Facilitators

Anyone with any skill or interest can apply to volunteer – you just need to be over 18 and have a valid Ochre Card.
