The Youth Advisory Committee is A dedicated group of young people who advise the City of Darwin aND work to make Darwin a more exciting and inclusive place for young people.

committee meetings are The perfect place to raise any issues or ideas you have for the City of Darwin.

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is a group of 15 young people, Council's Youth Services Team and two Aldermen. Members are aged between 12 and 26 years and come from different backgrounds and experiences, from various local high schools, community and youth agencies, education, training, employment and recreation groups.

The Committee advises Council on a range of issues and makes recommendations on issues that affect young people locally and act as a central point for youth issues at a Council level. 

The Youth Advisory Committee hosts and supports projects and events such as Quiz4Dili and Youth Homelessness Matters Day. YAC meets every month or sometimes more regularly if working on a special project. Council's Youth Advisory Committee has provided advice that has resulted in significant gains in making Council and Darwin a more youth friendly environment.
